Principal's Welcome

It is a pleasure to introduce myself as Principal of Jennings Street School. Located in Laverton the school opened in 2015. The establishment of a new school provides me with a great opportunity to create a vision for learning excellence for students' with autism living in the South Western Region.

As the school’s second stage of development is complete, we have expanded our teaching team; our staff bring to the school a breadth of experience in the field of autism as we work towards developing a culture that promotes life long learning and reflects the school’s values, Learning, Respect and Safety.

In addition to academic learning, we endeavour to create a safe and orderly environment by promoting a whole school approach to the teaching of strategies that support student’s development in the areas of social communication, emotional regulation and independence. Our 1:1 technology program maximises increased engagement in learning enabling students the opportunity to work at personalised learning levels.

Our modern facilities have generous teaching spaces including internal and external breakout spaces and discrete play areas to cater for 120 students aged 5 to 18 years. Shared facilities include; home crafts, science, art, music, multi purpose room and sensory room.

The school’s co-location on the Laverton P-12 Secondary College site provides enhancement to access educational opportunities within our local community. We are also conveniently located alongside swimming facilities at the Laverton Swim Centre and Paul Sadler Swim Centre.

If you would like to know more about the school feel free to contact myself or my Assistant Principal, Monique Cooley for further information.
